Coach Liam McMahon is in his first season as Head Coach at Williston Northampton. Prior to taking the job at Williston, he served as the Men’s assistant coach at NEPSAC AA Tilton School in New Hampshire. While at Tilton he helped coach three consecutive playoff teams, including the 2017 NEPSAC AA Runner-up, 2018 NEPSAC AA Champions and National Prep School Championship Semifinalists.
He takes over a Williston program that has a proud tradition of success in girls’ basketball. The team has qualified for the NEPSAC postseason tournament in 10 of the past 14 years. A member of Class B, Williston plays a highly competitive traditional schedule that features a mix of Class A (Deerfield, Hotchkiss, Loomis Chaffee, Taft) and Class B (Berkshire, Cushing, Pomfret, Suffield) opponents. While hard work and sportsmanship have been the hallmarks of the program, five Wildcats have achieved the 1,000 point plateau in school history. Numerous graduates have gone on to play college basketball. Williston’s basketball program fields two teams seeking to provide a quality basketball experience for girls at each level. We are fortunate to play in one of the premier facilities in New England.
Last year Williston finished the season with a 13-7 record earning a playoff berth. Four girls from that team graduated including First Team All NEPSAC forward Sarah Sullivan who is now playing at Division 2 Assumption College. This year’s team, while young, will be looking to continue the program’s history of success.
First-year Senior Caroline O’Connor will look to close her high school career out on a strong note before going off to play at Wesleyan University next year.
Returning Junior Jordyn Meunier earned an all NEPSAC honorable mention last year and will look to build on that this year. The 5’10” guard can score in bunches and will be an integral part of the team’s success over the next two seasons.
5’7” Sophomore Cristina Negron, coming off a strong AAU season is poised to see her game take a jump to the next level this season.
