NEGR - Northeast Girls Recruiting

Prep Profiles: St. Andrew's School

Coach Andrew Schirber has been coaching the Varsity Girl’s Basketball Team for the past 22 years. St. Andrew’s has won 6 New England Prep Championships under Coach Schirber.

Last year, St. Andrew’s finished with a record of 22-6. Wins over Nobles, Wilbraham & Monson, & Proctor Academy along with a tough 3 point loss to the eventual Class AA Champion, Worcester Academy, set the stage for the Saints to convincingly capture the 2018 New England Class C Title. The Saints have reclassified this coming year to play in the Class A Division.

There are five returning players back from last year’s championships team: Kim Howard ‘19, Katie Phillips ‘19, Emma Kiniry ‘19, Megan Bodziony ‘20, and Beatrice Stafford ’20.  Joining the team this year are: Abri Vazquez ’20, Nataliya Amaral ‘20, Ella Fiore ‘21, KC Guerrero ‘23, and Mia Fiore ‘23.

Several girls from this year’s team are being recruited by Division I schools. From last year’s team, Janai Crooms ’18, voted the New England Class C MVP, is a freshman playing for Ohio State University. All New England players Jamayra Castro ’18 and Willcia McBurrough ’18 are freshmen playing for Rhode Island College.

This season the Saints have been invited to travel to Salisbury, Maryland to play in the Governor’s Challenge National Tournament December 27-29.

St. Andrew’s School is a non-denominational boarding and day school located on a 100-acre campus in Barrington, Rhode Island, serving co-educational grades 6-12 and Postgraduate.
