NEGR - Northeast Girls Recruiting

Prep Profiles: Proctor Academy

Coach Junior De La Hoz begins his third season at the helm of the Proctor Academy Girls Basketball program. The last 3 seasons, Proctor has an overall record of 55-20, winning 2 of the last 3 NEPSAC Class C Championships and knocking at the door of the Lakes Region.

Last season Proctor competed in the Class C Tournament and the Lakes Region League. Over the course of the season, the program had a huge win at Class A New Hampton and played a couple nail biters vs. Tilton in addition to going 3-0 in the Class C East/West Weekend. After graduating three seniors (Katelyn Barton, Sage Fletcher, & Ally Rylander) who won two NEPSAC Championships in their four years at Proctor, last year’s squad got eliminated in the NEPSAC semifinals.

For this upcoming season, Coach De La Hoz and his team have high hopes to make another run in the playoffs and get back to the top in Class C. The team returns a lot of leadership and experience with 7 players returning from last year’s squad.

Leading the way of the returners is the reigning 2018 NH Gatorade Player of the Year and UMASS Commit, Angelique Ngalakulondi. Ngalakulondi averaged 24 points per game last year to go along with 13 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game. She is a 1,000 point scorer and is less than 200 rebounds away from reaching the 1,000 milestone. Ngalakulondi is a force down low and is an amazing rim runner. Coach De La Hoz and Proctor are looking forward to her continued dominance and leading this team all year long.

Also back is 4 year starter Mikala Eacrett who is a Sacred Heart Commit for Women’s Lacrosse. Eacrett is an amazing competitor who is and has been the heart and soul of this team for the past 4 years. She is a tenacious defender and they are looking forward to her continued leadership for this upcoming season.

Proctor also brings back a pair of juniors in Steph Davis and Essence McClain. Davis has already verbally committed to Holy Cross. She is a returning starter who missed the playoffs last season due to an injury. Davis’ presence was definitely missed but she is back and healthy and ready to go. She worked extremely hard over the summer to become a better player and her ability to shoot the three ball is huge to stretch the floor for Proctor’s bigs. McClain made huge strides over the summer playing with MCW Starz. She is a consistent shooter and her versatility to play inside and out will help this team tremendously.

Proctor also returns sophomores Victoria Morales and Maddy Brayshaw to the fold. Morales is a sophomore point guard and returning starter who averaged 13.4 points per game and 4 assists as a freshman in a very tough NEPSAC. She is Proctor’s floor general and they will need her to continue to play at a very high level and lead this team all year long. Brayshaw is a dribble drive guard that can get people involved with her ability to create others. Her presence on the defensive end is always felt as well. After a successful freshman campaign, Maddy will share point guard duties with fellow sophomore Morales.

Newcomer Anna Davis, a junior forward from Ipswich, Massachusetts, will be looked upon to contribute right away. She is an outstanding rebounder who can also hurt you with her ability to run in transition. Davis is very smart and her leadership will be something this team can definitely benefit from.

Coach De La Hoz and Proctor’s expectations for this season are the same as always – 1) Win a Lakes Region Championship 2) Win a NEPSAC Class C Championship. Competing in the Lakes Region is very hard, but Proctor is up for the challenge. The squad is looking forward to some great battles with Tilton, New Hampton, & Brewster.
