(Notes provided by Head Coach, Don Briggs)
McKenzy Ouellette • Class of 2019 • 5’6 • Pos: PG/G • Massabesic – Kenzy is a PG/SG. One of the best three point shooters we have, she has worked hard over the last year to build strength and consistency in expanding her offensive game. Pull-up jumpers and in-the-lane floaters now compliment her already strong three point shot. A tenacious defender, Kenzy has received strong interest from Division 2 schools as well as high academic Division 3.
Camille Clement • Class of 2021 • 5’8 • Pos: G • Greely – Camille currently has two Division 1 offers and will look to have a big spring/summer this year. She is one of the purest shooters I have ever coached…coaches I have spoken with love her range (especially at such a young age). Camille will need to have a big year for us to be successful. This is a different level of competition than what Camille has seen in the past and my expectations are high. As she continues to develop/mature and gain strength, her game will expand on both ends of the floor.
Grace Martin • Class of 2019 • 6’1 • Pos: F • Biddeford – Gracie currently has a handful of Division 1 offers. She is a high academic student (currently ranked number 2 in her class) and is also looking at Ivy League schools. She has worked hard to expand her range from her already very consistent 16’-18’ jumper. A relentless rebounder who thrives on contact in the paint, Gracie is as competitive a player as I have ever coached. She played quarterback on the football team through 8th grade and had scholarship offers for softball (shortstop). I anticipate Gracie will receive a lot more attention this spring/summer.
Mackenzie Holmes • Class of 2019 • 6’2 • Pos: C • Gorham • Committed to Indiana University – Mackenzie has been at the top of the recruiting list in Maine since she stepped on a high school floor her freshman year. A classic back to the basket post player, she has worked hard over the last year to expand her game to include a 16’-18’ jumper. She is also an outstanding passer from the low post, which is a lost art. Mackenzie’s work ethic on the floor is second to none and I will once again look to her for leadership on our highest level team.
Brooke Obar • Class of 2020 • 5’8 • Pos: PG/G • Greely – Brooke brings a lot of skill to the team with her shooting (threes) ability and handles which will be needed for us to have success as a team. She has worked hard on her game over the past year and I have high expectations of her this spring/summer. Once she gets comfortable with her new teammates and understanding what we need her to do defensively, I expect tremendous growth throughout the season and playing her best basketball as the season progresses. Brooke has received a lot of interest from D1 and D2 schools.
Katie Whitmore • Class of 2019 • 5’8 • Pos: G/F • South Portland – Katie is the classic team first player. She does all the little things teams need to have success. Competes with great intensity, very fundamental, and never gives up on a loose ball! Katie is a role player on our highest level team and what allows her to have success is her relentless work ethic. Undersized in the paint, she isn’t afraid of getting physical and will lead the team in bruises! She is capable of knocking down jumpers, getting put-backs, and has an uncanny ability to get to the foul line. Her willingness to sacrifice for the greater good is the ultimate “glue” girl on our team.
Anna DeWolfe • Class of 2019 • 5’7 • Pos: PG/G • Greely • Committed to Fordham University – Anna DeWolfe is as close to a “city” basketball player as we have. She plays with a flare and enthusiasm rarely seen in girl’s basketball. She has at least one “wow” moment every game and her teammates love to play with her. Anna has the full repertoire of offensive skills that she brings to each game…three’s, floaters, pull up jumpers, or the occasional behind-the-back pass. Anna, along with Mackenzie Holmes and Faith Blethen, have been recognized in Maine as top players since their freshmen year.
Faith Blethen • Class of 2019 • 6’1 • Pos: G/F • Boothbay • Committed to George Washington University – Faith is long and athletic and can shoot the three…Sounds like a great starting point! To Faith’s credit, she has worked on her game and focused on her weaknesses and has developed a well-rounded skill set to compliment her already strong perimeter game. She has really grown on the defensive end as well and today plays not only with her mind (IQ/fundamental), but competes physically. Over the years, Faith has demonstrated outstanding versatility having played the 2, 3, and 4 positions. Her game translates very well to the next level.
Maggie Whitmore • Class of 2020 • 5’10 • Pos: G/F • South Portland – Maggie has been an outstanding player in our program for a very long time. She played on our top team as a freshman last year and is ready to take on more responsibility this season. She can shoot the three and get to the rim which provides very nice balance (and effectiveness) to her game. What I love most about Maggie is she fills the stat sheet quietly. You really need to watch her play closely to recognize all the little things she does on the floor. I am expecting big things from her this spring/summer. Maggie has received lot of interest from D1/D2 schools.
